I had the pleasure of working for the City of Huron as the Director of Parks and Recreation Department. I was responsible for building the department from the ground up. The effort began with turning the Huron Boat Basin into a desitnation for Lake Erie boaters as well as the community. After a few years, the marina and amphitheater was a desitnation for people to enjoy recreational boating or enjoying music and events.
I submitted a grant application to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources to support the construction of the new marina building an was awarded a grant for the project. The building serves as the hub of operations for the Huron Boat Basin and is an icon on the Huron River.
I was the Chairperson of the Tall Ships Festival in 2003 celebrate the 200th anniversary of the State of Ohio. The event generated a net revenue for the City of Huron and City of Sandusky.
The Huron Amphitheater is home to concerts and movies all summer long as well as the annual Huron Riverfest.
